OUR MISSION IN AFRICA
Wula specializes in crafting the world's finest quality custom and production djembes, and other traditional instruments of West Africa and the African Diaspora. We consider our work a tribute to the art and the culture of the drum, and to its captivating sound.
Wula embraces its social responsibilities. Guided by a win-win philosophy, we pay considerably higher wages than the other shops in Guinea, and strive to provide year round, sustainable employment and income to our artists. Our progressive "Minimum Impact Approach" to the environment is also setting an example for others to be more responsible stewards of the forest. Coupled with our replanting project, this approach ensures that the ground we step on is left in better condition than before we arrived.

Wula Drum is a company and organization whose mission is to integrate the elements of drum manufacturing and arts education to offer an understanding and appreciation of the West African culture. Community development, team-building programs and drum and dance performances are also important aspects we incorporate into our mission. Unlike anywhere else in the world, we supply complete access to the musicians, educators, and instruments of this culture.

Wulaís mission outside of Africa is to educate and entertain, and to share our experience and knowledge of traditional West African and African Diaspora music and dance - through performance, instruction, educational materials, and corporate team building programs.
We believe that music and dance have the power to break down barriers of race and culture, to promote diversity, and to diminish prejudice. In this spirit, we seek to provide a forum for the various drum and dance cultures from around the world.

Wula is a manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer of the finest quality African percussion instruments available. We are a carefully selected team of the best, most dedicated craftsmen, whose mission is perfection in drum making, and whose commitment to quality and precision has created a new standard in drum making.

Our experience and expertise make the difference, as well as the fact that we directly control the quality of all aspects of the work - from the choosing and cutting of the tree to the tuning of the finished drum.
